The first mention of firefighting in Bukevje is associated with the teacher Vinko Bek, who served at the Bukevje school until the beginning of 1892. Namely, his biography states that during his 11-year stay in Bukevje, he initiated firefighting activities in Bukevje and Drnek. This initiative likely did not take hold, so the official founding date of the Voluntary Fire Brigade in Bukevje is recorded as January 13, 1913. The beginnings were modest, but over the years progress was made, equipment was acquired, and in the early 1980s the first vehicle was obtained. With the help of local residents, the members of the brigade also built the fire station at that time, located on the present site where the current community and fire station building was constructed during the 1980s.
