JVP Grada Osijeka osnovana je 1948.godine,a sjedište im je bilo u prostorijama DVD-a Gornji Grad,Božidara Adžije 4.U stare napuštene prostorije Novog Grada odlaze 1959.godine,kako bi nakon kratkog vremena zbog neadekvatnog prostora preselili u prostorije DVD-a Donji Grad.Razlog tomu bio je i zbog velikog broja tvrtki-industrije koja se tamo nalazila.Za sve to vrijeme zapovjednik Jedinice bio je Đuro Markan.U današnje prostorije JVP useljava se 1965.godine.Od tada,pa sve do Domovinskog rata zapovjdenici su bili:Pero Gluvčić,Ivica Orešković i Zdravko Kovač,ing.vatrogastva.Godine 1993.zapovjednik postaje Ivan Bart,a nakon njega ing.Jure Maslić koji tu dužnost obnaša do 1996.godine.Nakon Jure Maslića zapovjednikom postaje prof.dipl.ing. Boris Banjan.
