The Peteranec Voluntary Fire Company was founded in 1892 at the initiative of the locals to insure property due to frequent fires in the village. One of the first founders of the society was the local teacher Feri Hekl, who himself wrote the first firefighting rules that were accepted and approved by the then government. In 1937, the company, together with the cooperative, bought the land with the building on which the fire station was built. Its construction was completed in 1940, when the first party was held in it for the first time on New Year's Eve. Over the years, the society expanded, equipment was acquired and more and more young locals joined the fire department. Therefore, in 2007, in memory of our prominent and well-known deceased firefighter Ante Špiranović, a project was organized under the name "Memorial Ante Špiranović", where firefighting competitions were held. Likewise, DVD Peteranec had a men's team and a youth firefighter who went to various competitions and won medals.
